Gutted for you. That looks like a beautiful machine you'd built.

Hate the way it seems you're not "allowed" to own anything nice these days without having someone come along a break it, steal it, or tax it.

Sorry to hear that, looks a lovely bike (and distinctive).

I'll keep an eye out for it round the East end / Canary Wharf. I too was robbed this weekend, the police advised me to check the Sunday market at Brick Lane. Stolen bikes are sold openly there sadly.

I had both my bikes nicked this weekend too. P'd off doesn't come close.

I'm going to Brick Lane on Sunday to try to get my bike back.
Not being in the "cage fighter" category I was just going to phone the law if I spotted it.
However "999" seems a little full on- what would people advise?

I'd like to get my bike back, not delay an ambulance!

999 is the only way. If you tell them that you're intending to go there you'll end up in trouble. Go there, if you see it phone the old bill saying that you happened upon it and that you're getting your property back.

Good Luck, hope you get it back,

just becareful and do not put yourself at risk, let the Law deal with it,

Although it is tempting to excute ABH, on the Scum, it is not wise or worth it in the long term.

Thanks to everyone that is keeping an eye out, much appreciated.
I've got some thoughts on trying to make that easier for people -say when buying a new bike- hence registering www.stolenbikeindex.co.uk this morning.

I went to Brick Lane yesterday from Blizzard O'clock until late afternoon but with no joy.

I'm keeping an eye on Gum Tree and eBay- does anyone else have any suggestions?

Cheers all.

I don't unfortunately.

There was a similar one that I saw on e-Bay over the weekend but it looked like a 16-inch.

Has to be said. wrs the lot of 'em. Seems to be the way of things nowadays. I had a arguement with someone on Saturday when I stopped them dumping rubbish. Got told to 'Mind my own business'. Well, after smacking them around for a while, they came to appreciate my point of view.

Hi Mk1fan- what was the similar bike advertised as?

I took the photo sitting on the floor- with the 700c wheels it is possible that the frame looked a lot smaller than it is if the photo was taken from above.

Cheers,

Neil

Sorry Neil,

I can't find it again. I have linked this thread on STW though - see if the guys there have seen it too.

Slightly off topic, but where did you get the frame and forks done? Looks really good.

I got the frame and forks from a nice RAF chap via eBay.

When I originally got them they had been shotblasted and painted black.

The finish was quite chipped, and I was considering getting them restored to the brushed finish that the frame had originally.

So one weekend I got busy with the Nitr-O-Mors, steel wool and gloves.
Over the course of a few weekends and evenings I completely stripped the frame, and gave it a basic polish using wire wool, then wet and dry.

I then took it too a little company in South Bermondsey called AC Metal Finishers.
They polished the frame to a mirror shine, then had it lacquered by a chap round the corner from them.

Total cost from AC was £100, it took around two weeks, including time for the lacquer to harden, as the forks could not be put in the oven due to the bearing races in the headshock.

I've got their contact details if you want?
