Avid BB7 pads

How do I remove them? They won't come out and I don't want to break anything. Theres a clip on the back that's stopping them from coming out.

The manual offers no guidance, and the manual for installing new pads only tells you how to get the new ones in, and not how to remove the old ones.

I've asked this on bikemagic forums and they don't know.

I just want to rough the pads up, they're squealing a bit.

Never mind, I sussed it. You have to squeeze them together and push them out from the back with a screwdriver (or pull out from the front with needle nose pliers).

I was thinking it was like a car, where you remove the clip first and then they slide out - the clip stays in the caliper on these. Thats what I couldn't figure out.
