After a lot of umm'ing and ahhh'ing, I've just shelled out for a nice new commuter bike. One Specialized Centrum Elite.
It's a cracking piece of kit and although I don't get it until next week as they didn't have my size in stock, I'm jumping around like a little school kid!
It was a choice between the Trek Soho 2.0 or this bike and frankly, after feeling the brakes on the Soho and noticing the movement in them, the Specialized was a clear winner.
I also had to ummm and ahhh about whether to go for the single speed Centrum Sport which cost £60 less, however the 3 hub gears are a cracking bit of engineering and work a treat with little or no maintenance. Unfortunately I prefer the matt black frame colour of the cheaper version so I'm in negotiations with the manager to see if we can do a swap to get the black frame of a Sport and switch all the components from my Elite.
Anyhow....I'm chuffed and will most definitely use it on a daily basis to get around the city and of course to work and back (Just need a bell and mud guards! )
