Touring Advice
Discussion
I'll be picking up my freshly painted Inbred from Argos tomorrow morning. It is to be my new commuting bike, but it will also be used for some light touring. I'll post up some piccies of the build as it progresses.
The reason for this thread is this ......... I shall be riding down to and back from the Le Mans 24-hours this year. I need some help to find some good touring web-sites. Does anyone here Tour?
I shall be leaving on the Tuesday and arriving on the Thursday - I'm staying at Le Bounty whilst I'm there. Then leaving on the Sunday evening to head home. Arriving home on the Wednesday.
Although my primary reason for doing this is the challenge of actually doing it, I shall also be setting up a Just Giving account so that people can sponsor me and some kindly Charities can benefit.
I'd prefer to stay in b&b's or gets on the trip (I'll be camping whilst I'm at Le Mans) as this will mean a lighter bike.

One I've read and enjoyed (and keeping the on-one link) was a couple who toured for 3 months on Pompinos. Their advice on kit is great - and they managed to get full camping kit into a saddlebag and barbag each.

edit: read Tim Moore's French Revolutions too. It's him touring through france, following the Tour de France route - very funny but also should give an idea of what to expect!
