The front disc is getting a little squealy.

Whats the best way of cleaning it? Is wire wool ok?

You can buy brake cleaner in spray cans from any motor factor. It'll cost you two or three times as much if you buy it from a bike shop.

Or if you know anyone in the medical field, alcohol wipes work great too.

When washing the bike I use car shampoo. I clean the rotors at the same time, using the same brushes. Once finished I thoroughly wipe over the rotors with a clean cloth and panel wipe. As the panel wipe evapourates it takes away any residual contaminants.

When stripping a bike down as part of an overhaul, I wash rotors in my parts washer, dry them and then put them in a panel wipe bath. Take them out and let the panel wipe evapourate.

Thirded. Don't mince about cleaning stuff: just get out there and abuse them. They'll soon quieten down.

hard surface alcohol wipes do the trick for me.

(perk of working in the medical field, is plentiful supply, to kill superbugs and clean my disc brakes)

I use motor bike brake disc cleaner, works really well, but metholated spirits on some kitchen towel will do the job!
