Leckhampton Hill
Discussion
For the first time this morning I took a trip up to Leckhampton Hill in Cheltenham. Wow, were my first thoughts. I made the mistake (for those of you ride it) of cycling all way to the top by road as I had no idea of where you go into the woods, but it was worth it for the view at the top. Found loads of trails and reminded myself that I am getting older and no longer had the bottle I did as I unclipped a few times as opposed to just flying down hills!
Had my first 'little' spill on the new bike but loved the disc brakes over technical stuff as previously I have only ever ridden a rigid Orange with XC Pro canti's! Forks were good but I left them very stiff as didn't really like the dive I was experiencing on technical descents but I guess I will get used to it.
I then carried on riding around I discovered the 'main' part of the hill and it was packed! I can see the difference of fashion these days as my bike was the only XC bike (Felt RXC Pro) out of all the free-ride bikes and full sussers. However, a lot of them were stood around talking about lines and stuff without actually riding much so I got involved and crashed again! Had to call it a day as stem came a bit loose and didn’t want bars to twist at the wrong time.
I will defo be back up there when I can and hopefully get some skills back and remember to ride stuff a bit quicker as opposed to taking it too steady and putting myself in more dodgy situations!
If anyone else rides up there then let me know as would be good to meet up with a few other locals.

I live just down the road so that's where I go 90% of the time.
There are some crazy jumps - I don't do those, but it's a fantastic place, so lucky having it on the doorstep. The local paper had an article recently saying that the council might demolish the jumps as they're too dangerous
