My girlfriend has a second hand Omega Shadow womens specific frame.
We have just removed the Campag Record Carbon bottom bracket to replace it as the new crankset needs an octalink bottom bracket.

The non-drive (left) side cup came out easily, the right took a certain amount of leaning on a torque wrench.

When the right cup was removed it became apparent that the shell itself had lightly flattened threads just in one point of the shell, and the right hand cup itself was very battered looking.

Questions- a) does the PH consensus think this was crash damage? b) what to do about it?

Thanks,

Neil

picture please? wink
shouldn't be a problem, it can be cleaned out(the tread) and new bb fitted. If the thread is thin or worn there are various options.
Sounds like its has a bit of a story to tell.

Have a bike shop run a well lubed B.B. tap through it and it should be fine.
There are some B.B. manufacturers that make B.B.s that aren't dependent on the original threads, (Mavic springs to mind), if you get into trouble with it.

(or at least there were back when I was a bike technician).
