Think I've found a bargain Kona, can anyone confirm?
Discussion
Killing a bit of time earlier this evening went into Halfords to look at what Kona bikes they had in... well, I saw a 2007 Cinder Cone, spec as http://www.konabikes.co.uk/2k7bikes/cinder_cone_2k...
but instead of the rock shox forks it had marzocchi mz race forks. The original retail marked up was 699, now at 396!
Now I'd been considering an upgrade to my spec hardrock which I bought at the beginning of summer 2007 to decide if I wanted to get back into mountain biking, but I wasn't really planning to change until next year.
However, I think this might be too much of a bargain to pass up - what do you guys think?
I can afford it (it just means I'll need to let my wife buy something expensive for herself!).
Finally, I'm six foot tall, and the 18" frame felt a good fit (though I didn't have a proper ride - I will do tomorrow though) - does that sound about right? They also had a 20", but my hardrock which is a 19" feels a tad on the big side (it seemed fine intially, but as I've got back into things I feel i'd like something a bit more chuckable!).
Any answers gratefully received before 9a.m tomorrow when I'll be beating Halfords door down credit card in hand!

quick googgle and look at spec makes the offer you found look fair good for a Kona. If you are not worried about the brand there are better spec'd bikes for £400 but tend to be the European brands trying to make a mark in the UK market. But for £400 you cannot sniff at this deal.
Personally i think Marzocchi forks are better than RS due to durability taking preference over weight. Neitehr are very high tech, so as long as they don't behave liek a po-go stick thats all you can expect for cheap forks.
Sizing; i'm 6ft & ride large (circa 20" frame bikes, but this is for cross country riding for several hours. An 18" will be crampt after a while length wise even if saddle can be raised really high. then again, it comes down to feel. If you-re spending that much, make them setup both for a demo ride round the carpark.
Go in & haggle with them, you should be able to get a few extras thrown in, but be quick its 1/2 term & may go!

Didn't buy it - I'm happy enough with my hardrock and with the crap forks and brakes it felt like too much of a compromise - even at 400 quid... it did feel a fair bit lighter though which I think was probably down to the wheelset which seems pretty heavy on the HC...
I think instead I'll wait until next year and get an 08 Caldera on sale, unless my work starts up the cycle-to-work scheme before then.
