I can deal with bad weather, cars getting too close, sweating like a pig (manual work so I don't care how much I smell when I start) but one thing that is so frustrating is WIND (awaits jokes).

Can't wait till I get fitter, I know the more you cycle the better it gets but there's been two times this week I just thought sod it and walked with the bike :P

Doesn't help my bike is a cheapo one from motorworld (bought it years ago for £60) but in its defence it's done lots of miles now, in all weather and still runs fine.

yeah...its a fecker isnt it!

i used to cycle 8 miles down the side of a straight as an arrow dual carridgeway to work. i'd turn out of the sideroad in the morning PRAYING the wind would be blowing the way i wanted to travel...invariably as i rounded the corner i got blasted in the face. used to take abotu 15 mins longer if it was really bad compared to a still day.

i'd work all day thinking at lesat i'd have the wind on my side on the way back sadlyu this was hardly ever the case!

Ah yes, the lovely perpetual wind that is always in your face. I used to (in my younger years, of course) get so annoyed that I would swear at the wind 'Fcuk you' were usually the words I used as I battled it by going faster and faster.

Of course this doesn't happen anymore on my long straight ride into work past a totally open airfield that tries to knock me of hehe

I'm glad it's not just me then, I think the wind KNOWS when you're about to go out and changes direction.

Living near the coast (-ish), the wind is usually off-shore in the morning and on-shore in the evening.

So for me that means cycling into wind all the bloody time whilst commuting.

It's amazing just how much quicker you can go on the 1 day a year there's no wind at all!

Its horrible, nearly doubles my commute if its blowing the wrong way & strong.

Most of my route is open country roads so I get blown about all over the place. Last night was horrific.

well I'm glad i'm not alone in this one, it seems like every time I'm out I'm struggling in to the wind and never seem to see any other cyclists going the same direction as me, they always seem to be traveling the other direction with the wind behind them, as if they know something i don't, whats going on!
