I'm interested in upgrading the front fork for one of my bikes.

I want to upgrade the 2006 Fox F90RL (ISO format) to a 2008 Fox F100RLC (Post Mount format.. the only format fox now do) - as an start of year treat. The bike is an 2007 Anthem (so XC / Racey style bike - but gets used for all sorts of ridding), with 160mm Avid Jucy 7 brakes (ISO format). The old fork will then be transfered to another 'older' bike (so a double upgrade!).

My question:

There is obviously a compatability issue. The new forks have post mounts, my calipers are for ISO mount (160mm disks - Jucy 7s).

I've had some mixed advice on what to do - from a simple adaptor (cheap) to I need new front brake calipers (pricey) What do you guys advise / anybody done a similar change?

Thanks for the help.
Ian

Get an adaptor.

I've had to do it for my XTR calipers, and I've now a nice collection of spares having gone from 160mm to 180mm and then 203mm smile

Usually dead cheap - A2Z do plenty, and are usually available from Chain Reaction Cycles.

As for which one you need, I can't bring myself to put my brain through that again hehe

yes Only problem might be that the smallest adaptor might necessitate a larger rotor, but I guess you can probably live with that wink.

Avid Juicy have, for quite a while, been post-mount brakes on an ISO adaptor (likewise Shimano, and now how Hope's brakes are). So it's very likely that you can just take the adaptor off and the caliper will bolt straight on to your forks.

iirc when fixing to a Post mount (rather than IS) the Juicy caliper does not require a mount or adaptor to run a 160mm rotor size. It just bolts directly to the post mount.

Check with the importer Fisher Outdoors 01727 798345. If you need any parts then they can give you the part numbers too so you can order them from your LBS.

^ Good point, well made.

Should have thought about that, seeing as I run Juicy's myself redface

As said most Avid breaks have been PM for years. Post a picture of the caliper minus the mount just to confirm. can work out what size adapter you want then.
