German company I think.

MBR reviewed a Be One in the last few months. I don't think it lit their fire but wasn't a terrible bike got a 7/10 iirc. At £200 off it's very good value though. XC bike rather than a trail bike.

Hi there.

I was only looking at the same site/and bike myself yesterday! The spec looks good for the price.

BeOne is a netherlands company.

http://www.beone-bikes.com/

after a bit of digging I found this...

All About Be One Bicycle Company
The Be One Bikes Company was founded in 1997 as part of a brand name of Batavus. Apparently the team at Batavus didn't see that mountain bikes fitted in with their image so it was launched under a new name - B1 Bikes. Since then the brand had become an innovator in mountain biking design with a bunch of top and pro riders to it's name.

Be One Bikes designs are done using state of the art CAD compuer programes and artwork and the ofiices carry a little bit of history as you move through em!

Batavus and Be One Bikes are pretty much two at least appearance wise - two separate entities now and the Be One Bikes team are really into making their own individual style. "We at Be One Bicycles just want to make the best frames and bike products we can - concepts that really work and stand out from the crowd. A lot of bike companies just aim at being no.1 but we aim at being the best which is different". Be One Bikes is a small outfit but that doesn't stop us from being creative and producing stuff that makes peoples eyes pop out and say wow - that's cool".

"We have a people in charge of the general direction of BeOne Bikes and then we have the design team. There are also those responsible for the specs and ranges or cycle products we make. We are also influenced by outside designers and manufacturers in the motor industry as well as the cycle industry. Be One Bikes have a professional mountainbike team which helps us improve products and give our brand credibility".

And of course all the people at Be One Bikes are into mountain biking and sport in general. Be One Bikes does cross country mountain biking, urban cycling machines, Freeride and Downhill racing bikes and plenty of stuff between - these people are passionate about mountain bikes - check out there stuff!

HTH.

Not 100% sure on this but I think chain reaction are either the importers of B1, are part (or full) owners of B1 or the sole uk stockist. Either way, it means they do some awesome deals.

They're a good bike. Not the best imo, but very capable, good value and always look well specced.

Worth a look for sure

Hi,

Well Martin are you going to buy it?

Rico, Mk1 any other suggestions for under £500??

Seems to make sense to try to get a bargain on an 07 bike...

Cheers,

J

Hi Jambo,

Not sure to be honest, I'm looking at a few others.

Merlin Malt 1 - ltd ed disc ( http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/?fn=product&productId=738&categoryId=100 )

Specialized Hardrock Pro Disc 2007 ( http://www.evanscycles.com/product.jsp?style=70056 )

Kona Cinder Cone 2007 ( http://www.sunsetmtb.co.uk/shop/index.php?product_id=437&category_id=20 )

Rico, (and anyone else if they wish!) I would also be interested in any Hardtail recommendations you have for about the £400ish to £500 mark. Do any of the 3 above stand out to you?

Maybe we should change the title, or start a new thread? lol.

Cheers,
Martin.

I'll sound like a stuck record here, but I would look at the Commencal Combi. They do one for £469.99 at Real Cycles. I've not ordered from them before, but they run the Commencal Owners Club forum (linky) and Steve there has a good reputation. Worth giving him a call for a chat.

I've got a Supernormal (similar frame) and its a great starting point.

At the £400-500 pricepoint you can get a decent alu frame with usable components. Then upgrade parts as they wear out or you get bored.

Personally I'd do the following...

- Get the Combi disc
- Upgrade brakes to Shimano Deore hydraulics for about £50 each end off Chain Reaction (www.chainreactioncycles.com)
- Upgrade the fork in time

If you're interested in second hand bikes, one of my riding mates has a couple for sale, so drop me an email. Pretty sure he has a Commencal Supernormal or similar for sale smile My mate has sold a couple of bikes to Neil on here, so he can vouch for it being legitimate and VERY good value biggrin
