Is it too early for 2008's first PH ride?
Discussion
Too early for me, as I sprained my ankle really badly on Sunday after landing a jump straight into a large boulder (at least my mate took a decent pic of me mid air though ) I'll need a few weeks before I'll be able to ride properly again I think. Sooo frustrating as I know it'll take me ages to get back to fitness again
My first ride of 2008 is in about 10 minutes time! It looks a bit dark and wet out there, but I've had a very messy christmas/new year and it's to be done!
Lumicycles on...
edit: Dear god it was wet out there. The mud around here is terrible, made some of the climbs on my normal training ride a real challenge.

I'll be at Cannock tonight with Sir Jonny and Shiny Side Up if you and Peachy fancy joining us ADL?
Good grief, Cannock was cold and very wet last night! We had a good ride though, did a little exploring to the north, around the old quarry which was good fun, but probably not the best conditions for it, we were still riding at 10pm. Bike is now clean, but suffered a bit with the sand and grit of the chase.
As for a proper PH ride, 'mon guys, name some places, if it's planned enough i'm happy to travel almost anywhere, and I always like to ride places I haven;t done before. Suggestions?
I am doing a fair bit of commuting this week so will ride fairly local this weekend as I am expected to be shattered come Friday so, I'll be at Swinley Forest in Bracknell on Saturday 12th as long as it's not hammering with rain. There is no waymarked trails you have to string the sections together if it's wet in the week though it will be muddy.
I'll be in Afan on 9th Feb for a ride but the morning ride (Penhydd) will be a non-social affair (non-stop bar mechanicals) due to a bet in play with a mate, but the PM will be social (stopping) probably be doing the Wall.

Went to Cwm Carn Friday just gone for the downhill track.
1st run of the day I had my rear tube go half way down.
2nd I missed to get a new tube in.
Went well till after lunch.
I then crashed the cove, narrowly missing a tree. Picked myself up and got going again. Turns out that I lost my front brake pads in the crash. Made for an interesting run.
Run after that I went back up to the top with no front brake and rode it again. Proved for some scary moments
Last run I gave up for a bloke who had no lift pass. I felt my luck had run out.
All in all not my day really.
Would like to try out another location though. Maybe some top draw single track?

Okey dokey, i'll stick my neck out and suggest a morning ride at Afan on Saturday 9th Feb with a veiw to meeting up with atom & co in the afternoon. This way, early birds will get two social rides in, in one day and folks with distance to travel could possibly join in the afto. Cheap digs are always available in Wales, so maybe we could even look at a two dayer.http://www.mbwales.com/afan_forest/index.htm
