It's Christmas!

Ignoring all those that said I shouldn't upgrade, I went out and got:
An LX Hollowtech crank
LX 9 speed cassette, LX chain and LX rapid fire shifters
Hayes HFX9 XC brakes with a 6" rear and an upgraded 7" front disc plus an XTR gear cable set
Got the old BB removed and frame faced for £10 at my LBS which I thought was very reasonable
Next up, I think a new fork is in order!
Much lighter than the generic Shimano one on there before!
I must say, those XTR cables with these shifters are soooo smooth! And the old derailleurs work perfectly
However, I found in the past with XTR cables these rubber dirt covers seem to come off sometimes and run along the cables, so I've cabled tied them which I think should stop this without restricting the cable.
So there you go. Way too much invested in an average bike frame but it's been fun and I can't wait to ride it! Now, perhaps I'll get a frame and fork kit from Merlin
