Hi guys, i'm just wondering if anyone knows the best place to sell a trials/jump bike? Its a b-4-t trials bike and i paid 650 for it but have never used it. As its been sat for a while it needs a new chain and a damn good service, any ideas?

Could ebay it. Put a reserve on or have a friend win it so if you don't like the money it's going for in the late minutes, get your friend to put in a big bid and then leave them feedback, same for you and you still have a bike to try selling in a different way.

Get a friend to win it! Tut Tut ;&#172wink

In my experience, if a decent bike with a good spec you'll maximise your return by breaking it up and selling it in bits. More hassle perhaps, but you'll get more for it.

Then how do you send a bike on to an ebay winner? I am thinking of ebaying my hardtail Trek 6700 slr. A top bike worth 850 ish new that is a yr and a half old. I think I should maybe get £350 for it.

I've also herd that you can get more money if you break up a bike and then sell the individual components. Different markets though.

Some will want a whole bike but many, like those who buy a stock bike off the shelf, they'll change parts of it and thus not want the parts that they take off. Customise it if you will.

But selling it broken up like this, you run the risk of not selling it all and ending up with random odd bits lying around that you don't have a need for.

I guess you could go on eBay. Search for each component, choose to search for completed listings (option on right hand side), then marked won a rough idea of price. This would give you a rough total. Or sell it as one who bike.

More hassle to break it up though.

I brought a frame off eBay and it came in a box. When you take your bike on a plane (Alps holiday maybe?), you package it up into a box. Wheels off and either separate box or try to frame. then everything else can fit in it's place. It's a muddle and you'll have to find a box (I'd ask a local bike shop for a box).

Both of mine had local pick up only and got plenty of interest.
