Not really a discussion thread, just a gloat that I have Friday off and will be enjoying it in South Wales with a couple of mates.

Haul your stead down to Wales then, and join us.

How many rides / miles have you done in your week off ... an answer of none means you're in the wrong section smile

I'm meant to be riding back here on Friday. Just been bleeding my brakes, then the phone rang. I made the mistake of picking it up. So now there is no oil left in my brake. Cue ed off me and I'm come inside.

if I were you I'd be praying for better weather right now - properly heavy rain showers all this week so far at Cwmcarn!

It's only water. I spend too fricking long stuck at work monday to friday during daylight hours to let a little torential downpour dampen a rare opportunity to get out on a weekday.

CwmCarn in the heavy rain is no fun, well the DH course anyway.

Doesnt lose too much grip but the mud that gets generated gets into everything and kills bearings too easily.

I found that you knew about the wind on the open sections. Fun run though. Not done the singletrack.

Yeah the bottom section of the DH course in high winds is 'intersting' to say the least!!

Had a great day, but half way down the DH course in the afternoon, I got it a bit wrong and ended up with a stack off of one of the jumps. Didn't manage to get the bike far away from me, and ended up with a fair few bruises and a trip to A&E to patch up the 1" chunk missing from my leg.

Off work today too using my holidays, and nothing like mobile enough to take a local ride. frown

Oh well, at least you were trying. Any pics of the day? or even the stack for a giggle?

No pics unfortunately, but my mate who was following said it looked impressive. One of those "he nearly kept it" incidents.

Weather was cold, but pretty dry and not too windy. For December it was perfect. Maybe the last nice day of the year.

Blue skies and warmth (well, in direct sunlight) today... sat in the office wishing I was half a mile down the road at Cwmcarn....

Blue skys and warmth is what I've seen every day this year out of my office window. When a day beginning in S arrives, or a holiday, or any other time off, it's been 99% horrible.

To be fair, it's been nothing but rain for weeks on end in these valleys (to the extent that the MX5 is almost permanently steamed up inside now frown ), so a blue sky really is something notable!

and WildCards: I haven't been to CC since we were all up there last 'cos the weather's been so stinking 'orrible.
