I need to send my rear wheel (complete less tyre) back to Merlin for them to fix or replace the freehub under warranty, but I haven't a clue how to best package it? I've had a quick squiffy and none of the box companies seem to make a 30" x 30" x 8" box, so does anyone have any recommendations for safe shipping?

Bubble wrap it and then make your own cardboard box... using two big cardboard boxes and lots of packing tape.

Meh, a single neat box would be my prefered method, and the above sounds like effort.

Go to your local bike shop and ask for a wheel box. Make sure its a rear box as they come in two widths. Most bike shops have a skip purely for cardboard as they chuck it all out as parts come in. Then just wrap the wheel in bubble wrap and put in box with some scrunched up newspaper to stop it moving.

Thanks Rico, that's just the thing.

I bought a pair of wheels on ebay, the seller sent them (well padded mind) in a bike box which was a little OTT yikes
