I have moved in very close to Wendover Woods and have been told that there is a waymarked mtb route that is supposed to be good. Aparently it is pay to ride.

Does anyone have any information on location, routes, start point, costs, quality etc.

If it is good I may ride it tomorrow (sunday) pm. Will ultimately ride midweek evenings with lights.

Thanks

It's a shame that there is such local resistance to developing this site. It's a cracking place that's so compact that you don't need to carry any spares just your PPE and water!

Handful in the wet though smile

www.astonhill.com is their site, although its not updated that much. Don't bother if its very wet as the chalk makes it no fun. In the dry its soooo much fun though.

Currently run by www.buckinghambikes.com so give them a call for info

I'm tempted to give Aston Hill a try one weekend too. Best wait till it's dry then!

If you want wet weather XC near Aston Hill, Chicksands and Woburn Sands are your best bets. They're both sand based so drain quickly and are rideable all year round.

Chicksands - http://www.bedsfattrax.org/index.php

Woburn - http://www.leisurewheels.co.uk/sitepage.php?id=4

Feel free to email me for more specific details

Cheers Rico,

i went to Woburn for the first time a month or so ago - went very early one weekday morning and it was empty. Was a bit daunting at first, but thoroughly enjoyed it. Need to get there again, and keep going on a regualr basis.

Woburn looks great and it's only an hour away. I'd definately be up for a ride there through the winter if anyones organising.

Woburn often is empty. Only really on Sunday mornings do you see a lot of riders.

I'm busy most weekends until Christmas, so only really ride XC in evenings atm. Maybe do a PH ride there in the new year.

So whats this thing about paying £10 to the warden if you see him? Is he often there? and if you have already paid does he remember you or do you have to show some kind of pass?

I'm going to try to pop over there next week sometime - just need to wrangle a day off work.

Warden sometimes there at weekends. Never seen him during week. Just say you've got no cash and you'll ride to the road, then carry on hehe

hehe ill always make sure I have a tenner on me just in case. I think the pass gives you access to loads of other lesser used cycle paths all around woburn and up round the country park too, so not too bad really
