I'm sure many of you have ridden the excellent trails in South Wales, but never heard anyone mention Brechfa on here so figured it was about time it had something said about it. We rode the Gorlech trail, which has a fine balance between excellent single track, gradual climbs on both fire-tracks and in amongst the forest. Plenty of technical sections featuring steep, twisty descents with well formed burms, jumps and table tops galore.

Here's some piccies:

Reasonable car park (which is free) but no facilities. There's a river you can use to wash your bike off afterwards, and a bike friendly pub just round the corner for food/drink

The start is a 2 mile gentle climb through some very picturesque forest

My mate Ed full of energy at the start

My beloved GT

Taking a quick rest before the first proper down section

View of the single track from the other side which features plenty of burms, table tops and jumps...

...like this one

The scenery really is stunning if you stop to take a look

Steady as she goes

Need plenty of speed over this bit

Down through one of the single track sections which is much steeper than this pic shows

Taking on one of the many burms

All in all, well worth a trip if you're looking for more of the same things that Cwm Carn et al offer smile

I did it on my Tomac in April - excellent fun.

Got slightly lost after about 2 miles (sharp left onto a track - I went straight on) so saw a lot more of the forest than you should.

I admit that I walked down one steep drop but my excuse was it was getting dark and I was on my own and still had to cycle back down the Cothi valley to get home.

Also it's relatively easy to get to - being not far from the end of the M4.
