Knackered rear Commencal hub?
Discussion
Out on a biggish ride today near Marsden, very muddy, bumpy, rocky etc and the freewheel has decided to pack-up on my Meta 4, i've only done 5 rides, 3 of which have been on road. I've read elsewhere this is a common problem with Commencal hubs, so heres hoping Merlin will swap it out or me under warranty.
If they don't, can anyone recommend a decent reasonably priced hub I can change to.

In the reasonable price range I would say look at Hope Hubs they have been the most reliable of the hubs i've ever owned. Still smooth after many years, my Chris King is currently being serviced as it is no longer smooth and it hasn't lasted in the short-term as long as my hopes between servicing but if I beleive the hype my CK hub will still be good in 10 years time
One of my riding mates works for Commencal's distributor in their warranty department. Feel free to email me (via my profile) more specific details and I'll pass it onto him on Monday.
If you needed a replacement you'd need to go through the bike shop you bought it from, but he could advise you on any known issues, solutions etc etc.

Cheers atom.
I've given the bike a real nook & crany clean up today, a brief ride out and everything is working fine again. Surely a hub wouldn't just fix itself would it?
It's possible there could have been some grit in their, ride a few more times and see it's that same, my bottom bracket was creaking strip down and regrease and it's all good.I've given the bike a real nook & crany clean up today, a brief ride out and everything is working fine again.
