Just after a recommendation for a roof carrier system for mountain bikes, I bought a cheap one (£10each) about 6 months ago but its now begining to move alot and creaks all the time (not really alot of use as I have only started using it in the last couple of months), it doesn't look to have the most robust joints etc so not sure I want to keep using it....

Just wondering what sort other people use and how long they should last, or how long you have had them and if they are still going strong....

Thanks

Tom

Thule.

End of.

I've driven mine into a low roof, and the car (and bike) came off worse. The rack, however, is still fine, and super sturdy (if a little bent.

I can drive flat out, with complete disregard for the thousands of pounds on the roof, around twisty corners etc, and not have to worry about anything falling off.

You can also take the rack easily between cars, as you just buy different feet for the roof bars.

Be careful with the feet though, they can scratch the roof if you are not careful when putting on and removing.

Getting the bike on and off is super easy, however can be an arse if you have a heavy DH bike and no one to help getting the forks into the clamp.

Worth the outlay however, very much recommended here thumbup

Thule usually can be used with anything, yes. I'd give them a call though, their office in Portishead are usually very helpful.
