Myself and mk1fan will be at Cwn Carn on Saturday say Hi if you see us, I'll be on a Dark Grey Orange Five and mk1fan on a Specialised S-Works. Reckon we will be arriving in the car park around 9.30 - 10.00am.

I will be using the granny ring to get up the hill smile

Ace rides today.

Did two laps and burst open the 1-month old Pace RC39's I had put on my S-W's. Still, that's what I earn money for!

I will be going again next Saturday (this time to pick up the repaired Stiffee frame from Argos). Same as this week. Will aim to get to the car park there for 9.30 - 10am.

When I get my new bike built up in the next few weeks, I'll drive down to meet you lot and go for a ride, not been to Cwncarn for about a year, and omnly ever ridden the DH. Be good to have a scoot round the XC laps aswell. (I will of course bring my FF helmet so I ca nfinish the day with a cheeky gravity assisted run).

Snotrag that would be cool my new bike "should" be ready in a few weeks too it won't be going down the gravity assisted route but I'll do the XC trail. Frame is due in the next 7 - 10 days for me it would be 6th or 13th October as I can't do the 20/21st.

GAY.
give me one excuse why not!?
Have you tired it? its a really good DH course, quite an easy one to ride on any bike, only gets harder as you go faster!

yes nothing taxing in it at all - and chicken runs available if required in all the 'difficult' spots.

I don't like that drop off where the final part of the Twych Trail is not keen on that. Might give it a shot, you are correct I haven't tried it.

I am not GAY though just don't do big air or small air very often I am more an XC, All mountain rider not a downhiller.

I did smile ALOT when I saw GAY in capitals. Made me and Mrs Atom111 smile.

One of my mates headed down that way yesterday, I may do the same on my second lap when I next go hopefully when you and I have our new shiny rides, though I will have tested it before hand smile

It was bit Primary School wans't it...
I have no idea if its possible, but if you could incorporate the DH into the end of the XC loop it would work really well. If you get to the Start ramp, take the right hand option, then follow the red signs and you'll avoid all the do-or-die drops. Perfectly rideable on an XC bike with a bit of courage.

I think that it's possible I'll have a look next time I ought to go down it just to see what it's all about. Then I can say I ain't doing that again, whether I'll do it on my lightweight XC or wait until I go there on the Five.

Fantastic - I'm free next Saturday too (the OH is working), so I'll see you guys there!

I'd like to give the DH run a go too - I've always ridden Cwmcarn alone, never had the balls to attempt it without someone there to call 999 for me wink

(edit: that is, assuming it's not soaking wet frown)

Dark grey orange five?

Not a very common bike. Were you travelling back down the M4 between junction 17 and 16 about 17:45 on Saturday afternoon? Spotted a 5 strapped to the back of a car (boring family hatch IIRC) as I was travelling back from Castle Combe after the racing.

Was this you? Scary small world?

No it was in the boot covered so not me, though I do have a Golf which would be classed as "family" car but I like it smile

I used carry bikes on the roof but now I've a much cheaper car I just bung them in the boot but never strapped to the back.

It was stunning the trails were dry, the sun was out it was ideal. It's been quite some time since I've done Cwn Carn in the dry and with dry trails.
