My Stiffee got bent!

After a weeks hooning around Morzine, and one heavy crash, my trusty Stiffee performed brilliantly.

On the last descent down the VTT into Morzine I went very gently over the handle bars. It was a very gentle crash and no damage appeared to have resulted (both the Stiffee and I). However, once on the road section it quickly became apparant that the rear mech hanger was bent . Not a problem, it was the last ride and I'd brought a spare anyway.

Was stripping the bike down on Sunday. Took of the bent hanger, low and behold the rear drop out is bent too .

After considering the options - 17.5inch Cove Hustler in Black, a Med Commencal Meta 5.5.2, an Orange Five, another Stiffee FR or a Handjod XC - I decided to wait and chat to Argos Cycles on Monday morning.

They can fix it. About £25 and they can turn it around in under a week. So now have lined up two consecutive Saturday rides on my S-W's at Cwm Carn, one to drop off the frame, one to collect.

sorry to hear that Stuart. As we proud stiffee owners know know, our stiffees are usually as rigid and strong as can be. Must have been some bang to have knocked it out,.

It wasn't a heavy crash at all. In fact my spill on the rocks on Tuesday I would have expected to cause real damage but it didn't.

Get another stiffee, anything else is a compromise!

I would love to add a cheeky stiffee to the quivver, they are awesome bikes!

I'm dropping her down for a check up and then re-alignment on the 15th. Collect her the following Saturday (22nd).

If she's (regretably) beyond repair then I shall replace her with another HT.

I did have a Handjob XC before it was cruelly taken from me. She jumbed off the roof rack at 80mph and then under a Skoda Fabia.

It will be hard to choose between a Stiffee FR and a Handjob XC. Although, realistically, I'd like to take a FS to Morzine next July.

Sorry to hear you bent your stiffee,

as a cove addict, i recommend you try a hustler for FS frame, i thought it was really good and i do not like FS frames, I have a STIFFEE FR, and going to get a handjob soon as a lighter build set up, just wish i could stretch the budget to a hummer, as it was a stunning ride when i spent a morning with one in the woods, but v expensive frame £1.4K.

But i would always replace my stiffee with the same again if i bent or broke it as it is the best HT bike i have ever owned or ridden.

Yeah a Hummer would be very nice. I too am a bit of a Cove nut.

Very nice - white seems to be a really cool colour at the moment. Funny really. Silly (nee Sad) as it sounds, the first thing I'd do if the six numbers came up would be to get a full range of Cove steeds!!

i have one cove, soon to be two and then joined by a third next year.

My Stiffee used to be black before all the paint peeled off! Argos resprayed it for me in a light gunmetal collour - and removed the V brake bosses at the same time.
