Hi all.....come back from a ride (trails/road mix) and agony in right hand! Only when I grip or lean on the palm.Seems to affect two middle fingers worse than others. Always wear gloves, currenly specialized and theyre fairly well padded. Im not a daily roder but I am a heavy one! Come off too but fell in a lovely bed od nettles...very warm legs at mo....!

So, has anyone else experiened this and how long did pain take to go away?

Dave. With very red raw legs.

I can get some bad numbness but not really any nerve issues. You might find an adjustable rise stem to be helpful, pitch it up and put more weight on your seat and less on your hands. I have also found that changing my hand position on the bars, starting very early in the ride can help as well. If you don't have bar ends, then install some for extra hand positioning.

if it's a flat bar bike - get some bar ends to hlep cary the position ( I use Gator grips and love 'em - very comfortable). When I first started riding I had the same type of problem and it lasted a week.

How much height difference is there between your saddle and the handlebars, and is your saddle level?

Lots of people get this, In most cases you can get round it by adjsuting your setup.

The most important thing is the angle of your brake levers. You want them angles so your wrists are straight, which generally means further down towards the floor than you would expect.

You may want to go and see chiro. I've had numbness down one side after 4 hours of riding so I'd ride the remaining 1-3 hours with pins and needles in my right arm which manifested in the hand. Checked the set up of the bike again and nothing looked strained.

Chiro straightened everything out and the problem went away.
