Went into Halfrauds at lunch time to look at their bike trailers for kiddie winks as they have a sale on. Asked if they would attach to my bike as it has disc brakes and wondered if they would get in way. Bloke says its ok with discs but won't work with QR skewers as they aren't strong enough and need bolted rear axle?

Q - does anyone have a Halfords trailer and if so, do you use QRs with it?
Q - can you get boltes skewers to replace QRs if need be as trailers are good value?

fwiw bike is 2003 Marin MV with hope discs

Do the Halfords ones attach to the bolt then?

I've got one (eBay) that attaches to the bottom bit of the rear triangle - wouldn't have thought that Q/R or otherwise would make any difference...

The halfords one, you remove a wheel nut, the plate fits over the bolt and you put the wheel nut back on again. I would have thought QR would be ok? Sure there is extra load carrying a trailer, but less load than me going hell bent for leather on howden moor?

I got my trailer from there a couple of years ago and it has been fine with my QR skewer. Just make sure that the black metal coupling piece is actually in the box before you leave the shop - mine was missing and when he looked in the other boxes, they had been taken too. Maybe people "acquire" two so that the trailer is transferrable to another bike.
