Back on a bicycle for first time in years...
Discussion
Having not been on a bicycle since my mountain biking days as a teenager, I finally got back into the saddle today - but by christ was it scary. Whoever coined the expression 'like riding a bike' was referring to the fact that returning to an activity a period or so later would likely involve a struggle and some pain!
Anyway, I made it back from the bottom of the road, and after lowering the seat (I think my legs have gotten smaller) and increasing the tyre pressure (I know I've gotten fatter), I'm off for a longer ride tomorrow - when I may just about make it out of the estate!

Don't make the mistake I made last week. At Phoenix Park motor races in Dublin I borrowed bike to ride to the bus station to find the times of buses to the airport.
It was about 2 miles (or it felt like it) from the paddock to the end of the park which took me about 10 minutes to ride. What I hadn't realised was it was all slightly down hill going there but what was slightly down hill was a major mountain on the way back. It took me ages to recover when I eventually made it back.
