Are Giant still considered a decent brand?
Also, I can't figure it out, I was looking at the 'trail' range of bikes, and in the metal I thought they looked really good, but I got home, and was having a quick flick through the catalogue and online, and I just don't think that pictures do it any justice, e.g:

Might take one for a test ride as I've seen a couple of really good deals, albeit on 21" frames.

Giant is a good brand.
You probably can't go too far wrong with any of the leading brands: Specialized, Giant, Trek etc. Fit is critical to getting a good bike. Better to pay full price and get a bike that fits, than a discounted bike that's too big or, small.

if 21" is your size, great, however it its not, your wasting your money.
Giant are a very good brand and tend to have good warranty backup if needed.
A Reign X is a possibilty for my next frame...
I've no quibble with Giant. Giant have just replaced my XTC frame under warranty due to paint bubbling - 2 1/2 years old, hard use, no questions. Not bad.
Considered getting a Reign Zero - before falling for the Yeti's charms - good value undoubtedly.
As for sizes, as others have said, not all frames are equal - ride before buying. A friend has a 21" Alias which is just about manageable off-road and he's 6'2" - a 19" may have been a tad too small, so he might have been better off with another brand.
