GT CX1 or Marin Bobcat?
Discussion
Time and time again people post up these questions without giving any qualifications as to what they want to use the bike for.
If you are looking for a Trail bike for around the £500 mark then 12 were tested in the June edition of MBR. They included the Marin Northside which came in seventh. The forks being the problem being badly matched to a stif, yet good, frame.
The also tested the GT Avalanche 1.0 Disc which came in equal fifth. Being a safe, predictable if unispiring ride.
The Commencal Combi Disc (£499) came in equal first and was described as the most fun on the trail. The Specialized Rockhopper (£550) was also give equal top spot but more of a racey bike (but still a Trail bike) with a quality frame and forks. The Kona Blast (£550) was a happy medium between the two and was also given a share of the top spot.
Hope this helps.

Quite happy with my '07 Bobcat trail so far, can see a hyd brake and fork upgrade coming on tho, as funds allow. I didn't research into other alternatives at the time of purchase, more of an impluse buy tbh!
Was up at Cannock chase on Sat, great fun.
