I am putting V-brakes (deore) on the front of my bike for the first time and the bolts that came with them are too thin. The callipers are going onto entry level Marazoochi shocks.

Anyone know what size these bolts are and do they have a special name, as i'm struggling to find them on any of the online bike shops.

cheers
Will

not sure what you mean too thin, i think they are M5 ( i can check in my garage) thread size bolts, i always used to fit stainless steel bolts from local hardware shop, than the standard bolts, they are XT on my wifes bike now, as i moved on to discs long since,

holla back if you want me to check, got a few pairs of marzochi forks in the garage too, so i can be more precise.

Ok, I don't think I have been very clear, I even confuse myself sometimes!

It's the first time these forks have had v-brakes - I have just downgraded from some very unreliable hydraulic disc brakes ( I just want a bike that works!)

I'm now thinking there is some kind of mount I need to attach. The threaded holes on the forks are about 10mm in diameter, so maybe I need to put in a mount which the calipers themselves sit on?

I know i'm being really thick, but I just need to know what I need to buy!

Sounds like what you are looking for are Marzocchi V-Brake bosses /(studs). They wouldn't come on a bike spec'ed with disc's.

Yea.. sounds like the rim brake mounting studs are missing. wander down to your LBS and get 4 of them. (two rear and two front) Bolt them in (watch you dont strip the thread out of the frame, and then fit the V's with supplied bolts
