MTB Trip to Sutherland and the Outer Hebridies

Our summer holiday plans are comming on nicley. The G/F and I are off to Scotland and I've negotiated boot space for the bikes. Since were going all that way, best to use them as much as possible

Basically, were looking for any good ride / location tips in:

South West or West Sutherland
Harris / Lewis / Uist's

(I already have routes for Skye mapped out )

I know it may be a long shot, but was wondering if anyone has been or knows anything of the areas.

Were up for anything from an hours blast to a breakfast to dinner type outing.

I've cycled through some of the islands as part of an MTB tour of scotland. As I recal I took a ferry from Oban (having cycled through Cairngorms, Mamories then down the West Highland Way) and cycled through the Uists, then back onto Sky... then did a one day coast to coast accross scotland when back on the mainland.

The Uists were very flat and featureless, not many off road options so I stuck to the road. Very religious place as I recal. If they are a part of your circuit then include them, but for cycling specifically not worth going out of your way to include the Uists - IMHO. But might be some nice beaches?

Skye is great though, good single track near the Cullins.
