looking after my commuter in the british summer!
Discussion
Hi all,
I have just started to ride to work on a old but good bike. It has a steel frame (with the seat post out all day) and its geared. I have to unfortunately leave outside all day. When I am at home it is under cover though.
Its not worth a fortune but equally its great for the job and I don't want to spend out on a new one.
So whats the best way to look after it in the evening after it has been in the rain, wind etc of a british summer all day every day!
Thanks for your help
Andy

i wouldn't put wd40 anywhere on my bike! it will take off all the oil from your components and is very short lived with any sort of low friction qualities.
If you can be bothered, keep your chain, derailleurs and cassette clean- degrease then oil up and wipe off the excess. WD40 won't help your bike last any longer!
So speaks a converted user of wd40 on bikes for many years- no longer :-)
