40th Anniversary of Tom Simpson's death

Today marks the 40th anniversary of Tom Simpson's death during a Tour de France stage on Mont Ventoux.

Its a shame that the Tour will not be visiting Mont Ventoux this year as a mark of respect, but here's hoping that this years Tour will be the clean.

I also hope this years event will be clean, its desparately needed.

Has doping been worse in cycling, or has it just been higher profile than in other sports?

I'm off to France in the first week of October and we're planning to do Ventoux. Has anyone here done it and if so, just how bad is it?
