Not sure if this is the right forum, but can anyone help me through the minefield.
Need to get a good exercise bike, budget no more than £150-200-ish.Can anyone advise on which resistance system is "best" ie hydraulic, magnetic etc.
Seem to be some very reasonably priced used ones on Ebay(ex-gym etc)?

Personally I'd go for a spinning bike like this:

Most exercise bikes are crap unless you go for the Life Fitness ones that big gyms have, and even they are not great. Spinning bikes give you a lot more of the feel of a real bike, and you can tailor yourself a good home routine with music for climbing in and out of the saddle, sprinting etc

All imho of course.

Are you looking for a full on exercise bike or an exercise stand so that you can use an existing bike for some indoor exercise?

If you want a full on bike I agree with The Londoner that Schwinn Spinners are the way to go. If you want a stand then the hyraulic/fluid stands are the ones to get, as they tend to be more quiet and give more realistic resistance, than the magnetics or fans.

The Carl Lewis Spin cycle looks very similar too and the rrp is around £150-200 I think

Don't really get exercise bikes personally - whats up with a real bike?
The outdoors is a lot more interesting than my house, maybe I'm lucky having superb places to cycle on my doorstep?
Still, I suppose it beats driving to the gym then getting on an exercise bike, that one gets me every time smile

I have always had a proper bicycle, and fantastic places to cycle round here, but with family comitments I'm finding the time and inclination to go for a solo cycle appeals less and less. This is the compromise I'm afraid
