NOW CONFIRMED AS JULY 22nd! Meet in carpark at 10am. I'll be in a blue Toyota Previa.

Chatting to Neil about this and we're both up for a Wales day.

http://www.mbwales.com/cwm_carn/

There's XC and DH but I vote for the XC. It's a long circuit, maybe 2 hours but its pure mountain bike heaven.

Climb starts from the carpark and goes up and around the side of the mountain, following a mountain stream.

When you get to the top, you've then got another hour or so biking along and down the mountain with the odd climb chucked in for fun.

It is pure HEAVEN. What mountain biking is all about.

I'd vote for a Sunday in July.

Anyone interested?

Cymcarn is a goodie - the last descent on the XC loop is to die for.

I'm for it - especially with needing the training for MegaAvalanche....

I got chatting to a local that passed me on the trail one day. He could complete a lap in under 40 minutes!

It is an excellent trail although I can't wait for the new Visitor's Centre to be finished though. The temporary one is pants and smells arwful.

I could be persuaded although we're staying at Afan for the w/e of the 30th/1st, the following w/e I'm marshalling the Tour whilst it's in London. Nothing booked for the remaining w/es though.

Yeah... tbh I can't remember how long we took.

He was probably very fit and fast... I prefer just having a fun ride and mucking about on the jumps at the top smile

That and some of the views are gorgeous!

I'd really like to have a go at this but will have to negotiate a day off from family duties (which should be interesting). Definitely can't do the last w/e in July iirc

The locals around there are fit. Think Trans Rockies, Trans Alp, regular wins at races, regular team wins in 12 and 24 hour races.......

Sounds good to me, and as Neil says, useful training for the Megavalanche. 14th or 21st would be good for me.

Thsi sounds like a good excuse to dust off the old bike. July is frantic but i will keep an eye on this thread and hope to make it.

I'm around most of July, and since I'm only a 20 min canal path ride from Cwmcarn I'm sure I could make an appearance.

Don't expect me to keep up though, did a lap of Cwmcarn a couple of weeks ago - my first session on the bike in the best part of 6 months - and it reminded me how crap I actually am loser

threesixty - I am personally on the XC side of the sport but the DH course does look good if that's what floats your boat.

Name your Sunday and I'll be there hopefully. The only one I wouldn't be able to manage would be 15th as I'll be at Castle Combe.

40 mins for a lap is a hell of a pace!

I try to do a couple of laps if the legs and bike can handle it, to make my journey worthwhile. Getting there about 10am, I'll be there til 13:30-14:00 for that.

That includes and coffee break between laps, and a pasty, and a chocky bar, and a wee

I'd like to think that we could possibly do a June date and also a July date - I think Andy was suggesting a June date asap really, but it would be a good thing to try and organise some regularish rides.

DH-wise - we could certainly organise a day as I like Cymcarn, however you need to book up with the uplift guys in advance, and hence we need to really be absolutely sure of our dates.

I might be up for this, not been to Cwncarn for ages (its a long drive!).

Would be nice to take both bikes down for a weekend, day on the XC then a day of uplifts with my 'sled'.

Nah, gotta be July for me. Booked up every June weekend.

How about July 8th as a possible? Any objections?

That dates a no go for me I'm afraid, as I'm away for a wedding.

July is going to be tough for me I expect.
