For those of you lucky enough to own a modern Nokia device, there is a great new application I was made aware of yesterday - Sportstracker. It's a free download from the Nokia site: http://www.nokia.com/A4388200

I have an N95 with built in GPS, but it will work with other Nokia handsets in conjuction with a Bluetooth GPS unit.

Now comes the good bit - strap your phone to your handlebars and press start. You get live readout of speed, distance and time on the phone as you go. Once your session is finished, it will plot graphs of your route, altitude, speed, averages, etc.

But the best bit is, you simply export the data as a KML file, open in Google Earth and it plots your cycling route on the map and indicates the position of your fastest point, highest point, lowest point, etc., on route biggrin

There are some sample files on Nokia's website here: http://research.nokia.com/research/projects/Sports...

Like the idea of this.

Hope Sony do something like it.

Benn trying it out today. Program works well, but the GPS unit on the N95 is not brilliant. Takes a while to get a signal. Might have better luck with a separate Bluetooth GPS unit like the LD-3W, I'll try that next week
