The most recent (unless a new one has come out since) issue of MBR has a review of 12 circa £500 bikes in it.

The GT is included, but can't recall if the cube is or not. Specialized wins the test, but it really comes down to what you plan to use the bike for.

Sunday afternoon cruises along river tow paths or leaping 20 foot into the air over jumps?

Its the June 07 issue, so should be "current" in the shops for another couple of weeks.
