Anyone done this? With the exchange rate so good you could halve the cost BUT I guess there is tax n shipping?
I am out in the US in the summer. Maybe I could bring my very old bike out on the plane and then bin it and bring a new one back (but maybe use it out there to wear it in)...?

I'm thinking of doing exactly what you are suggesting to be honest. The saving over UK retail by buying in the US (due to exchange rate) makes it worth me considering timing a purchase of a new bike with a trip to California to try their trails.
