What basic kit do you take with you on the bike and how do you carry it.

For me:

Mini pump
Spare inner tube
Tyre levers
Multi-tool
Puncture repair kit
Tie-wraps
Insulation tape
Phone

For my 24 mile daily commute it all goes in the back pack with my work stuff, play riding it all goes in my Camelbak Rogue.

Do i carry too much? i.e. all i have in the car is my phone and AA card.

Has anyone else got a better way of carrying their stuff, i'm fed up of having a bag on my back when ever i'm on the bike!

I carry pretty much the same as you although;
> 2xInner Tubes
> glueless patches (or preglued)
> Credit card
> £10 note
> plastic gloves from a petrol station
> no Tie wraps
> No Insulation tape

As for carrying
The mini pump goes on a holder next to my bottle
Phone in jersey pocket
The rest in a very small saddle bag

I mostly use one of these

an SQR Tour from Carradice, I usually carry arm and leg warmers and a waterproof jacket and more tubes than that

Plus just about any other size you could want

Matches my bike!

How do you manage to get all your stuff in that! an inner tube would fill one of those!

So you don't want to see the larger one I used for longer rides like London-Edinburgh-London then

Arm/leg warmers, waterproof helmet cover, skull cap, neck buff, Goretex jacket strapped to bag top, Gillet, reflective waistcoat, gloves.
Tools; allen keys 3/4/5/6/8mm, spanners 6/8/10mm, lock ring tool, chain tool, tyre levers x 3, spoke key, stubby screwdriver, Swiss Army knife.
spares; inner tubes x 5, one spare tyre, chain links, selection of bolts, puncture repair kit, cable ties, spoke nipples x3, spokes x 3 taped to rack, roll of insulating tape, disposable gloves
other junk; first aid kit with creams tablets plasters bandages , insect bite pen, lip balm, wet wipes, flannel and pack towel on longer rides, spare batteries, spare bulbs, head torch, jelly babies

And there is still room for a long sleeve top, jacket and spare shorts.
