I've just ordered a '07 GT Avalanche Expert to get me back into Mountain Biking after a 3 year break, seems like a good bike for the money. I was advised to go for a large, at 5ft 10", is this the right size?

I'd say - I brought a medium a while back, and it was too small for me - I may be tall but I only have 32" legs and as such couldn't get the seatpost high enough.

Reach wise, it'll be spot on (based on averages).

If you feel uncomfortable, get down to your LBS and get them to try some different length stems for you.

Otherwise, enjoy a great bike - you'll have loads of fun! Make sure you have a helmet though!!!
