Disc conversion
Discussion
I love my Ridgeback, soooo much. Rode into Central London yesterday and had a great blat about, added another 25 miles today around Chiswick/ Kew.
Anyway, i'm really into clean lines at the moment and anything not needed has been removed. Happened to ride past my fave bike shop today and called in to ask about a disc brake conversion- frame lugs are already there. Now this would enhance the look of the bike and as I need new pads anyway I thought it would be a good idea. So ask how much.
Answer is (using quality parts and new rims) 300 quid fitted. Blimey, now I do want them, but when Genesis Day01 is 400 new can I justify the expense? I can swap back to the old V brakes when I sell the Ridgeback.
What do you reckon? I've booked it in for Friday but can always cancel? I ride fast, and often and do rely on my brakes but is the difference worth the expenditure?
Cheers

I'll go and dig out the quote, I assume they have tried to sell me the most expensive stuff they have- new rims (current tyres swapped over), hubs, discs and levers. When/if I get this done it means my Ridge will stand me at 650!!
The Genesis is this:

V nice, no discs, but just hardcore (for me at least!)

Having looked at the Genesis you like, I assume you only ride on the road or very very light offroad.
If this is the case, I think disks would not be worth it for you, Just my opinion but I've got some XTR v brakes on my klein and the majority of the time theyre more than adequate. I've also got some juicy 7s on my voodoo and the only time they come in to their own is in serious mud. I'd save the £300 and put it in to a better lighter bike.
