A great day at Herne Hill yesterday, here are some pics and short video clips.

The atmosphere when the big Derny's came out was brilliant

Those motorbikes sound like Lancesters bombers. Brilliant sound. Have been for the last couple of years but was in Cornwall this break. Looked a good day.

Graham.

PS Hows the training going for the 24?

WTF is going on there? Why are the bikes being towed around with motorbikes?

Is this some kind of roadie joke that MTB hetro's don't get?

I have to second that - wtf?

I'd describe this as cheating unless the push-bikes are singlespeeds with a fixed rear hub! Now that would be hardcore once the motorbikes get some speed up. Looks good fun either way. I used to live 5 mins up the road too.

The Derny bikes were only out for the Motor paced race, they ride a fixedwheel track bike with a much bigger gear, also the tubs are taped on to the rims to stop them coming off at the higher forces involved.

The riders shout instructions to the Derny rider to go faster, slower or keep it steady, they were lapping the 440 yard track in about 22 seconds, that is at a top sprinters speed for fifty laps

There is a short video clip in the photo link below.

The rest of the races were normal fixedwheel/ no brake track bikes

Including Bradley Wiggins, he is bloody quick

Gradually getting back to decent mileage, did the Invicta 200 a few weeks ago and the 300 from Meopham is this Saturday, I've had my Lambert out for commuting in the good weather it encourages me to ride faster to keep the bigger gear rolling

When do the evening tens start up again?
Cheers
Steve
