What Mountain Bike To Buy?
Discussion
its been a few years since ive owned one, well mine was a raleigh maverick so dates to 1988
now i fancy buying one again as its no fun keep borrowing someones, so which bike to go for and what size as from the looks of it theyre not all one size now for adults.
looking to spend up to £300ish, can be cheaper but im not heading up any serious mountains so dont want to spend stupid money on one.
not that bothered about fancy suspension and disc brakes etc just want a good bike for the money as it seems places like halfrauds have loads in with not much between them.

Entry level Kona Trek or GT would be a good start. 300 wont get you much in the way of quality though. If you dont plan to get serious at all, get good componentry cause frames are much of a muchness at that price. If you think you might get the bug, get a good frame so you can upgrade the parts.
i looked through the forums but couldnt find one other than biker banter which id say is ones with engines.
308mate, its just for riding around the village and countryside on. not really into wearing tight lycra shorts! so just wanted a decent one that wont fall to bits.
ie i thought the £99 ones in macro looked cheap and no good.

I'd second a Specialized Hardrock. Got two of them (his and hers) a few years back, and never looked back. Try and get the last years model if the timing is right - should be able to pick them up a bit cheaper
