The other week i got about 6 or 7 small thorn in the space of about 20 minutes. Admittedly, i was riding along the canal path, where the bushes had recently been cut, leaving lots of thorns on the path itself. I have standard Specialized tyres which came with the bike, plus i have now just purchased some new tubes with the slime in there. Is there anything else i could buy in the way of tyres/tubes to reduce punctures from tree thorns? Can i put tubeless tyres on my Alexi rims?

What about buying the Armadillo tyres?

They are working for me so far. *fingers crossed*

You can buy roles of kevlar to go between the tyre and tube. Seems to be working for my old man.
A good pair of tyres will also help.
Another option is Downhill inner tubes. These weigh more than normal tubes as they are roughly 3mm + thick but even the most determined thorns will get through these.

Panaracer Flataway.
This anti-puncture shield is placed between your tyre and inner tube. It is produced from Kevlar fibres that are spun together to produce a bullet-proof vest type shield for your tyres. Flataway is light and supple.
Wiggle
It's 10 pound...per tyre.
My Father recommends it and hasn't had a puncture since.
