My 17' spesh rockhopper frame is just too small and heavy and so i'm on the lookout for a replacement. I think a budget of about £200 is about right but could spend more if i thought it was worth it. I like the look of the Kinesis maxlite xc but can't find anything else i like. Also what frame would you suggest for a 6'2" guy? Thanks for any help.

The Maxlight is an absolutely amazing frame for the money. It's nice and light, and fairly good looking too. A friend of mine had one for years, and he won the Scottish national youth championships on it, and now internationally races road bikes.

Have a look at the Azonic Steelhead, too. Personally, I'd still go for the Maxlight.

Oops

My Gary Fisher Big Sur frame could be for sale soon, and would be about £275 I think - it cost me £350!

Its a Easton Alu 9000 frame with carbon chainstay and seatstay, bloody stiff, and very very light. Fits me well, and I'm 6 foot 4", but would suit a slightly shorter rider.

Let me know if you are interested, and I'll continue this off forum

The bike, all 24 lbs of her

p.s. its disc only btw

Complete bike, however I'll be doing a bit of swappaging to get both the Y and this hardtail properly sorted out, and then flogging off the bits.

Lots of carbon stuff and some nice wheels to flog

The Y is built, however just needs a stem and the reducers for the shock I got for it and it'll be a fully specced XT Y22

Just arguing in my head over which bike deserves the carbon SIDs

Try a Commencal Supernormal. I ADORE it. Rails the downhills so well and climbs great.

I've done a few races on my Giant XTC and rate it as a very firm hardtail - every single bit of energy from every pedal stroke is put throught the back wheel. Which is just as well cos I'm a bit slow...

And the frame has taken a lot of punishment too - following friends on their 4-6" dualies.

I'm 6'2" and ride a 19" frame but only so I can take it over the more-gnarly stuff. Try a 19 and a 21"
