Just got myself one of these forerunner 305 with Heart Rate monitor. Records just abour everything you could wish to record for a cycle ride or any activity for that matter. Used it for first time today and means that i will never need a cycle computer again. You can even set it for upto 3 different bikes (if you have that many)as you can input the weight of the bike.
You can even use a previous ride as a virtual competitor if you do the same route.
I should be able to see myself get fitter and fitter on a weekly basis.

Sounds cool. I just checked it out on the Garmin website. How come you didn't get the Edge 205/305 for cycling, or is it because you want to use it for other stuff...? I am looking at an Edge 205 - looks the biz.

I want to use it for other stuff. Will be doing a bit of running (when i have lost some weight from cycling and my knees can stand it) and for skiing and snowboarding. Could be dangerous though going for a speed PB on the skis.

I've got the older version of the 205, the 201. I use it mainly for running, and its a great tool. You can download all your data to your computer, keeping track of your progress. You can even upload your routes to Google Earth.

Or if you're bored on a flight, you can increase your average pace exponentially!

Sounds like a useful tool. I am very much the recreational cyclist, so no need for the more costly 305 for me. I'm a gadget lover too, so that's blatantly the main reason...! Nice to hear the 201 is a good piece of kit - bodes well for the 205.
