BMX 20 or 24 inch wheels ?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am looking to get a cheap BMX just for crusing about on, not into tricks or ramps or jumping. Can anyone suggest a BMX that would suit ? What size frame and wheels should I go for ? What makes are worth going for/avoiding ?

If it's just for crusing about on, why bother with a BMX. If you don't plan to commute considerable distances, and just gonna ride it to the pub* get a chinese chopper. They cost next to nothing and are really cool. View the one you buy instead of ordering on line as quality can vary.
* = disclaimer - none of us would ever consider taking the bike to the pub as drink riding is very naughty and illegal.

Get a cruiser. Loads of companies do them now. Just google for various online shops. Winstanley's have plenty if you search for 24-inch bike...

BMX's are purposely for doing tricks, riding parks and racing on.
24' cruiser class bikes are for tall people to races BMX on.
For riding to the pub, you want a 26" wheeled singlespeed. Spend as little or as much as you want. Off the top of my head, Kona, Ridgeback, Charge, On-one and many more all do bikes desinged exactly for that - riding to the pub and shops.

Is that what you would call a Dirt or Jump bike ?
Something like this : Evans Cycles: Product: Charge Stove 2007 Mountain Bike

How old are you? If you are older than 22 you'll look at complete prat on a BMX.
Does the name Nathan Barley mean anything to you?

Phew. I'm still only 21 and riding my current steed
However the riding is done at skateparks. It really is rubbish for riding places. Although i've often done 8+ miles to get to a skatepark without too much effort.
Just buy a cheap mountain bike. Or if you do want a BMX go for a 24", however I think they look even more rediculous then a 20" one.

You can get a quality cheap 20inch bmx that will do the job off: www.extreme-direct.co.uk/bmx/bmx-bikes---special-offers/
I would recommend them, I know the owner and he is notorious for his companies reliablity and extremely competative prices (he owns Ruption, so this is the cheapest place to buy that make). I would go for a Ruption if all you want to do is cruise about.

I'm not quite sure whether that is slightly sarcastic or not (probably the use of sweet and gosh ) but no not recently, it even has a lair of dust on it at the minute . But I blame winter and too much work for that.
I see you live in Haywards Heath. I used to see some nice looking dirt jumps in some woods just after Haywards Heath train station going from Brighton to London Victoria. Do you know if they are they still there? I always meant to go up there but have never managed. (but tbh i'm rubbish at dirt anyway, so i'd probably destroy all the landings with my head ).
