Every man wants a G-Spot, soooooo I just brought one of these;

Can't wait for the post to arrive soon. I'll get some built up pictures on shown soon.

Anyone interested in a Dr. Jekyll frame and other odds and ends?

Well I have a current built up hard tail which I'll be swapping over the frame.

That has Freeride SL's up front, Hopes all round, may upgrade the Mono Mini to another M4 to match the other one.

Although it's a single speed so looks like I need to dig out the XT group set and set it up.

Thinking that I'll be in the market for some longer travel forks soon though as the Freerides, although brilliant forks, they are only 130mm, I'll be looking into the 150mm range now so I guess they'll be ebayed and then some ebaying will be done on my behalf.

So today I got around to taking apart my current ride.

How it started:

I needed to take everything off it just leaving the bare frame.
Get that bike on the stand!

Went about taking it apart and it wasn't long before I'd hit my first problem:

I couldn't get the non drive-side crank off.
Normally a 5p fits perfectly at the end of the BB which allows for the crank extractor to push against it and pull the crank off, thus leaving the 5p bowl shaped with it's outer ridged edge being the top edge of the bowl shaped 5p.

First 5p came out resembling a polo where the puller had made a lovely hole in the middle.

Second 5p got pushed into the BB itself and therefore no use.

Other attempts included a nut that then rounded it's edges and went into the BB, two washers stacked that in turn went very very thin and wider than normal and then overall turned out to not be very useful washers any more.

Then I found a nut that could kill a man and this solved my problem.

So I am now left with a naked Dr. Jekyll (bar it's BB), now ready for it's bath.

During my attempts at removing this annoying crank arm. I removed my 4 stem bolts to find the bars didn't want to come off either.

Due to being in an annoying mood I hit the end of the bars to pivot them out. Consequently making the opposite end fly towards my face at a great rate of knots. Hitting me square on the bridge on the nose and bar hurting a wee bit, It's taken my skin/ blood and left me with a nice bump. I believe it was its way of putting two finger up at me.

Now I have to answer the question: Do I want to run a Hardtail and a Full Sus or just a Full Sus?

Sweet frame, they ride well. Was a toss up between that and my Transition.

You do realise, that one of the standout features of that frame is its main pivot is concentric to the BB.. so you could, actually, run it singlepeed. ( no/negligible chain growth).

Yeah but wasn't really wanting a single speed back end on this build.

But may keep the Jekyll for a single speed runner.

Sounds like you've been having a bit of a Frank Spencer DIY day. At least you stayed out of A&E.

What's your plan for the old frame?

In reply to the 'what am I to do with the frame?' question;

I think I may build it up as a cheap HT bike for shits and giggles and then keep it alongside my new build.

Don't know how often I'd use the HT yet if I built it up as I'd be mostly using the new ST.

I was planning on selling it all.

My old Freerides which were on the Jekyll are 20mm short for the new frame so I'm thinking of maybe selling them and the Jek to get some money for new forks.
Ooooorrrr keep them on the Jek, build it up as a 2nd bike and then just splash out on some new forks unaided from selling things.

Hmm I'll check the bank one day soon.

I think 130mm forks would be fine on that frame
