Neither will appear to compromise the operation of the gears, however what is the common consensus from other crud catcher wearers? These are obviously designed for round tubed frames, and don't appear to make a large allowance for more "modern" designs.

Never used one before, but have had enough of mud blindness over the last few weekends ..... especially the animal sourced mud variety yuck

Gear cables outside.

Indexed gears don't work too well when clamped down

Ah yes, of course.

They'd work ok once in the pull direction though
