I am starting the new year weight loss program this evening (now i have light in the evening) and am looking to get a bike computer.

I have no idea what is available in this market. What should I be looking for and where should I get it?

I want to know usual stuff: speed. top speed, average speed, distance etc.

Most do that kinda stuff.

I bought a Cateye Vectra cordless recently and found it packed up in wet weather. Swapped it for a Cateye Micro cordless that hasn't missed a beat.

More expensive models will integrate with heart rate monitors etc.

If you are going on a bit of a health spree, why not look around and spend a bit more to get one that will include a heart rate monitor and calorie counting features.

Best thing is to write down what you want to track (miles, calories, av speeds etc etc) then visit your local bike shop for some friendly advice.
