Routes around Swindon in Wiltshire

I live just north of Swindon and as is always the way with regions, we aren't really South West, or Midlands or anything.

I've looked at a few publications suggesting routes in the South West, but most are a long way from us. Same goes for South East, South.

Any one know any new routes or clubs to try around here?

I'd say the best place for a good off road (depending on what your after) would be the ridgeway - it stretches from South Wilts to past Reading, going through Swindon-ish, but you should be able to get a good run in either direction...

Used to have a good circular route that started in Lambourne and took in part of the Ridgeway. Nice ride as I recall.

Know some parts of the ridge way quite well, but it can get quite boring. The Romans didn't do much in the way of designing twisting downhill sections

I think that I will look further away, and see about pricing up a proper roof system for my car (super pricey from scratch ain't they) - my new full sus bike won't go on my old rack that I used to strap to the boot.
