No more than 2 months have elapsed since I last rode my bike with regularity. Due to really bad weather (constant unending rain for weeks), work patterns, etc, I fell out of love with my bike.

So today I determined to get back on, and get back into a decent daily rhythm again.

I was back home after only 6 miles. My old route was 20 miles minimum, every day. Only 2 months ago!

How long will it take before I can get back to 20 miles? A week? 2? I've put on about a stone in those 2 months, god I'm slapping myself for it now.

Doesn't actually take that long - i get out of muscle memory and fitness If i dont ride for 2 weeks, (IE chrismtas) but im not worried because once normal service resumes, 2 good off road rides a week will have me back in peak fitness by february.

You just got to man it out - but dont hurt yourself. If your struggling, slow down and admit defeat, it soon comes back.

Like I say, muscle memory is where its at.
